CHARACTER INFO

Character: Ketheric Thorm
Canon: Baldur's Gate 3: After his untimely demise at the hands of Tav and the rest of their party.
Age: Hundreds of years old; Specific Age unknown.

Background Information: https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Ketheric_Thorm

Personality:

1) Ketheric Thorm; A former worshiper of Selûne like his forefathers before him for countless generations lived out his days in his ancestral home of Moonrise Towers. Fighting in many great wars in servitude to the Gods he was once a practical man who loved his family more than anything. His beloved wife Melodia was taken from him at a young age causing him immense grief but it was not until the untimely demise of his daughter who challenged him the man began his fall into a darker path. Basking in sorrow and misery the general turned to Lady of Loss herself; The Goddess Shar who took him under her wing and became her “Chosen”. He and his devoted followers began an all out assault on the lands surrounding Moonrise Towers only finally being stopped by an alliance of Harper's and druids of the Emerald Grove. Years after his own departure from the world of the living the God of Bones, Myrkul came to him with a tempting promise; To restore him to the lands of Toril along with his beloved daughter whom he cherished more than anything.

Ketheric was known to be an honorable man in his past life before his servitude to Myrkul, becoming a mere shell of his former self now wallowing in despair and anguish. Wholly devoted to achieving that which he’d lost and desired more than anything, the return of his darling wife and daughter at his side. This obsessive behavior caused him to betray his old ways enacting vile atrocities to any and all who would dare oppose him.

A cold, stoic individual upon first meetings Ketheric would try to keep his composure so long as the opposite party did not seek ill harm against him. Those who might have crossed his path in his prior life to arriving in Escordvi would find himself perhaps still distrusting and if provoked could quickly turn hostile. He is known to be sociable within reason if he does not find his company immediately annoying and would look to hold a conversation so long as it suits his purposes or if it will aid in him some fashion working as potential allies in this newfound world.

2) There is only one thing that matters to Ketheric Thorm more than anything in the world and that is to have both his wife and daughter happily at his side once again. Having devoted himself fully to Myrkul in repayment for his beloved daughter's life he now played his part as the general of the Absolute in loyal servitude. The annihilation of Baldur's Gate was merely a means to an end by comparison as he simply played his part in the Grand Design laid out before him. If there was anything the man could do to be reunited with his treasured family in Escordvi he would certainly do so. Seeing their smiling faces with him at his side with this newfound life would give him purpose here and perhaps change his ways for the better at long last.

3) The general of the Absolute was by no means perfect far from it in fact with many faults and character flaws that were unbecoming of his once noble station as the ruler of Moonrise Towers in servitude to the Goddess of Selûne. His obsessive behavior clouded his vision, turning his faith towards Myrkul instanteously without a second thought when he was offered up that which he desired more than anything; The return of his beloved daughter Isobel back to the land of living. Unfortunately his daughter rejected him for the horrors he enacted as the Shadow Curse plagued the once thriving wildlife surrounding Moonrise Towers along with forsaking the Moonmaiden. When he was confronted by Tav and their party who begged him to seek forgiveness for his sins he rejected the notion despite knowing the error of his ways, arrogance and greed for his personal goals meaning more to him than redemption for his blasphemies throughout the years since his first life.

Though it is never explicitly spoken there is hesitation as times in Ketheric in his decision to join with Envar Gortash and Orin the Red in their quest to seize control of the Sword Coast seeing them merely as annoyances rather than allies though he could not go against the wishes of his newfound God Myrkul who returned his beloved daughter to his side and granted him everlasting life in turn as his Chosen. He would betray any and all living souls to an eternity of damnation if it meant achieving his own personal goals of reuniting his family together again, forsaking all that he once believed in.

4) Despite all his shortcomings Ketheric Thorm remains a family man first and foremost wishing nothing more than to see his daughter and wife unified together happily at his side. Although he's betrayed both the Goddess of the Moon, Selûne and the Lady of Loss Shar he continues to put his faith in the Gods until they have all but forsaken him after his untimely demise upon taking up Myrkul's apostle form and siphoned of his life force bestowed by the God of Bones after his failure to uphold his end of the bargain made. Last but certainly not least it appears he holds a soft spot for dogs as he kept an undead canine, 'Squire' as his companion tucked away within his private quarters within Moonrise Towers.

Abilities & Inventory: Before his demise at the hands of the rogue 'True Soul' and his band of miscreants Ketheric Thorm had been blessed with invulnerability magics thanks in part to the celestial being Dame Aylin, his daughter's beloved counterpart, draining her own life force with necromantic magic to sustain himself from any physical harm. However; Since I am taking him from post death he will no longer have such powers and be subject to mortality like any other normal human or half-elf in his case though still retaining his abilities as a Paladin with necromantic ties to the Lord of Bones, Myrkul. Having broken his oath time and again the General is what they call an 'Oathbreaker' with ties to magics of necromancy and darkness in servitude to an evil being.

As for his inventory the items on his person would only be his intricately designed plate armor handcrafted by Myrkul himself aptly named "The Reaper's Embrace" which is adorned with depictions of the God of Bones. It holds the ability to use 'Howl of the Dead' which inflicts numbness to any creature within a 10ft radius. (Numbed enemies affect the entity's movement speed by half, the spellcaster will also have Advantage on Attack Rolls against the affected entity.) As well as 'Reaper's Rigidity' (When activated, you can't be moved against your will by any spell or action, but have Disadvantage on Dexterity Saving Throws.)

ARMADA SELECTION

Corsairs; Needless to say Ketheric is not a good person anymore and would not fit the mold of the Paladin's ideals preferring to plunder and pillage to his hearts content in this strange new world. Eventually I would like to have him pursue his own ship and become the 'General' once more, even having thought of an appropriate name for his supposed vessel known as "The Forsaken", taking any and all in who have been abandoned, discarded or generally harbor ill will against those who wished to hinder their own hopes and dreams either back in their home world or here in Escordvi. A ship of wayward souls with newfound aspirations of staking their claim in this land with the former Chosen of Myrkul as their prestigious leader.
